Bonnie Jesseph’s second cookbook, “W.I.N.O.S. Love Chocolate” includes the ingredient most associated with love, passion and romance on every page, and is in no way simply a “dessert cookbook.” Bonnie’s devotion to the rich flavor is apparent, as the recipes range from chocolate cocktails to beef tenderloin with port-rosemary sauce, from a nutty salad with home made vinaigrette (and dark chocolate shavings) to toffee sweet potatoes, to chocolate cheesecake, brownies, fudge and fondue.
Surprisingly, sweetness is not the focus of the entrées - rather, chocolate is used as an enhancement enriching the overall recipes, providing depth to the more typical flavors and adding a little mystery to the dish. You’ll find recipes that traditionally include a dose of chocolate such as Mexican mole sauces, as well as innovative combinations like lamb with a spicy cocoa rub and salmon with white chocolate sauce.
Start the romantic meal with a Berry Chocolate Martini, move on to a beautiful main course featuring spicy New York strip with chocolate Merlot sauce and mixed fruit and spring greens with white chocolate-orange vinaigrette , and end with Bonnie’s white chocolate brownies with bittersweet chocolate chunks for an evening of sheer chocolate bliss.
